Complexion and color palette

Choosing what color to wear depends on your taste but not all the colors look good on you, right? It is simply impossible to look good in every color. Some colors make us look washed out.
How do you perceive the colors? What we actually see is the light reflected from a surface we look at. If reflected by glass prism the light will display colors. The seven colors of the rainbow. But there are three basic colors- red, blue, yellow. Every other color is made from those three and are called secondary colors. Mixing blue and red creates purple.Yellow and blue make green.Red and yellow make orange. And the hue of the new secondary color depends of which red, blue or yellow you use and the proportions in which those are mixed. When you mix all of the primary colors, or a primary with adjacent secondary color you get tertiary color. Those are the earthy colors such as brown and gray. Why did I not mention black or white? Because if they are mixed with primary color instead of creating new color they just lighten it (white) and darken it (black).

So why I give you all this information? Because it will help you choose the color of your clothes, accessories and makeup depending on your complexion. When choosing what colors to use you need to consider your skin color and the hue of it, your hair color and your eyes color. Also knowing the color wheel will help you mix and match different colors in your outfit, which look good together or use contrasting colors with best effect.
The colors of your skin, its undertones, hair color and eye color are brought together as season complexion, and corresponding colors are chosen from the color wheel. From the intensity of the complexions it can also be distinguished warm, classical and soft seasons. The stylists use this scheme in their works, which is of great help when choosing the color of a garment.

 Winter
Winter is a cool tone. People with winter complexions have blue or pink  undertones. The skin can be pale and porcelain white, yellow, olive, or dark. Winters are brunettes with deeply colored eyes. Many Asians and African- Americans are in this group. Natural white- blonds may also be winters.

Best Colors for Winter
Winters should wear hues that are sharp, vivid and clear. You look best in sharp, rich colors, like black, navy blue, red, and bright pink. These vigorous shades will compliment your coloring. For lighter colors you should wear bright white or cool blues, pinks and yellows.
Worst Colors for Winter
Avoid dressing in earthy tones and subdued colors like ecru, orange and gold. They will make you look faded and ashen.

 Summer
Summer has a cool tone and like winter complexions, the summer types have blue or pink undertones. The skin is very pale and pink. Summers are  natural blonds or  pale-skinned brunettes with pale eyes. If you’re a trying to distinguish between winter and summer, winters are usually brunettes and summers are mostly natural blonds.

Best Colors for Summer
Choose soft neutrals and pastels, as well as toned down colors with cool undertones. Pale blue, dusty pink, camel, lavender, plum, and pale yellow.
Worst Colors for Summer
Avoid intense, bright hues because they will look harsh and drown you out. You should not wear earth tones, and stay away from black and orange.

 Autumn
People with this kind of appearance have golden undertones in their skin, like a pale peach, golden beige or golden brown, all warm tones. Natural redheads and brunettes with golden brown eyes fall into this category. However, golden-yellow and black hair coloring can also fall into this range.

Best Colors for Autumn
Rich golden and earthy colors will accent your complexion. Thus, look for a warm undertone when selecting a color. You can wear both subdued and rich warm colors that are seen in autumn leaves, such as beige, olive, orange, gold, and deep brown. You will also look great in a rich warm gray.
Worst Colors for Autumn
Stay away from crystal clear, bright colors, black and white, which will make your look fatigued and worn out. Also avoid pastels and blue tones, which will look too cold against your skin and make you look too pale.

 Spring
Spring is also a warm tone. People of this complexion have faint golden, creamy-white or peach undertones. They have remarkably light, alabaster skin color. People of this coloring are usually natural golden blonds, tawny, or strawberry blond redheads. Their eyes are very clear, light blue or green.
How to distinguish spring from autumn? Springs more often have pale eyes and autumns have dark eyes.
